Training
We are committed to working at the forefront of care delivery, which means ensuring our care workers are equipped with cutting edge skills.
Induction training

Every recruit at First Support Care is required to complete our comprehensive induction training program, which is designed to align with the Skills for Care’s Common Induction Standards (CIS) and the Care Certificate. This training equips you with essential knowledge and skills needed for your role in the health and social care sector.

Our induction training covers the following key areas outlined in the Care Certificate and CIS:
-
Role of the health and social care worker
-
Personal development
-
Effective communication
-
Equality and Inclusion
-
Principles for implementing duty of care
-
Principles of safeguarding in health and social care
-
Person-centred support
-
Health and safety in an adult social care setting

In addition to covering the required knowledge areas, our induction also emphasises the values that govern how First Support Care operates. We place a strong emphasis on respect, dignity, and person-centered care in all aspects of service delivery.

Upon completion of the CIS and Care Certificate course, you will have a solid understanding of your role and responsibilities as a care worker, as well as the fundamental principles of providing high-quality care and support.

Following the induction training, care workers have the opportunity to shadow experienced team members. This hands-on experience allows you to apply your training to real-life situations and gain valuable insights into working with service users.
Even after completing your initial training and gaining confidence to work independently, our care workers continue to have access to a network of support. Our operational and management teams in the branch, along with other colleagues, are always available to provide guidance, assistance, and ongoing professional development opportunities.

At First Support Care, we are committed to ensuring that all our care workers are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to provide the highest standard of care to our service users.

Ongoing training

We are committed to working at the forefront of care delivery, which means ensuring our care workers are equipped with cutting-edge skills. Regular refresher training provides the opportunity to learn new techniques and approaches that adhere to the latest industry practices as set out by NICE, SCIE, and other specialist organisations.

All our care workers are required to work towards their QCF Level 2 Health & Social Care certificate, with some progressing onto Level 3. In addition, we offer tailored training for care workers working with children or assigned to service users who have specialised care needs (e.g. dementia or end-of-life care).
